A very special elder |
Message: |
Rob was a very special person and elder. I only had one class with rob but the one class he changed my life in so many ways that I couldn't begin to voice them all. He taught me to open my mind and my heart to all cultures and the many things we all have to share with others. We adopted each other into our families as the Native community does. I only wish that I could have learned much more from this very intelligent man in many ways. He will be extreamly missed but NEVER FORGOTTEN.

In those days |
Message: |
Those days of summer and the seasons that followed were made much more memorable due to the roots made and nutured in my families time in the valley with these two men. My sons and wife enjoyed those days of watching men be men and share responsibility of developing ideas. I miss those days. Hoyt hya N'cha cha...aight skwa-cee N'cha cha |

Rob & Steve Memorial Page |
Message: |
I write this all the way from Dharamsala, India and know the reason I made it here was because of the support Rob and Steve consistently provided. You both told me of your journeys to India and how it changed your lives, promising me that it would change mine. I can feel both of you supporting me while
learning about the struggles here. Rob's guidance was exceptional and his wisdom was like a gift each time we sat to have our discussions. I don't know how to thank you for guiding me back to the place where I spiritually belong and for teaching me innumerable life lessons. Steve, your kind spirit was always shining in your presence. Your devotion to friendship and care for others will always remain in my heart as a true example of how a person should strive to be. I wish we could all share one last laugh together. Thank you both for blessing me with your presence. |

Two wonderful people |
Message: |
The profound impact Rob has had on the way I think and perceive is indescribable. I will remember him always for the most important lesson of my life. Through him I realized that not only was I an 'equal' in this world but so was every other human being.
Steve will always be remembered for giving me a voice and ensuring that I was heard. In a way he forced me to grow up and think for myself.
This void will be difficult to fill. |

We miss you both |

Loosing Rob and Steve so unexpectedly makes me sad for all the time I could have spent with them but couldn't for so many different reasons. They were two of the kindest people I have met since coming to this country. I was not here for their memorial services but my heart was praying for them thousands of
miles away. I hope they know that they are sorely missed and that their kindness, dedication and love is irreplaceable. |

Thinking of how much you mean in our lives |
Message: |
How strange it is for me to not be able to talk with you about life. That is always what we did best together. I'd talk and you would listen and give advice - no matter what, no matter when. Having you, Steve, as a big brother was the greatest gift. I will always have a piece of my life missing without you. May you rest in peaceful comfort and shine your magical light on us from afar. |

Rob and Steve |

Dr. Proudfoot proved to be a generous and considerate friend I grew to appreciate more the longer I knew him. He did have a following and never turned away any students who needed help.
His opinions and views were easily perceived as he found the time and energy to make sure that they were correctly understood. You do not find these qualities in everyone. I thought that we would have a few more years of visits here at the UO. I will miss his counsel.
I did not know Dr. Swenson that much but found him to be friendly and encouraging. I had met with Steve a few times here at the Longhouse and we tried to figure out plans but things never did come to fruition. In Rob's absence I thought that Steve might be more accessable regarding the Center and
Longhouse planning. I will always miss these missed opportunities.

Goodby to Rob and Steve |
Message: |
It has been really nice knowing both of you. Your lives ended much too soon. You will
both be seriously missed. There were so many things I was looking forward to doing
with each of you. So much life to live and enjoy. My sadness is profound, but I know
the Creator will welcome you into his arms and hold you in peace and love for eternity,
or until you are reborn to help guide this world into an age of world peace! I love you
both, my brothers. My memories of your friendship are all I have to sustain me as I
carry your ideas and mission with my brothers and sisters at the center into the future. |
