The Center for Indigenous Cultural Survival
Rob & Steve Portraits
In Memory of Rob Proudfoot and Steve Swenson
On October 4th, 2006, the Director of the Center for Indigenous Cultural Survival, Rob Proudfoot, passed away at his home in Eugene. Thirty-Four days later, on November 7th, 2006, our Assistant Director, Steve Swenson, died unexpectedly at his home in Eugene. Rob and Steve have been colleagues and good friends for more than twenty years! Working together, they provided the seminal research and hard work that has brought our center to the place it is today!
We have created this page to allow anyone who knew Rob and Steve to have a forum to express their thoughts and feelings and to share this with others who may visit this web site. Anyone interested in donating to the memorial tree that will be dedicated to Dr. Proudfoot with a memorial brass plaque may send their donation to the "Proudfoot Tree Memorial", c/o University of Oregon Foundation, 110 Johnson Hall, Eugene, OR 97403. Enclosed check or money order should be made out to the UO Foundation, noting for "Proudfoot Tree Memorial." Questions can be directed to Barbara West in the President's Office (541) 346-4788.
Please feel free to write as much as you want, being considerate of others who will be reading your posting to this venue.
Thank you, the Faculty and Staff from the Center for Indigenous Cultural Survival (CICS) and the Northwest Indian Language Institute (NILI).
